Members of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary pose with RN Denise Purtelle and Dr. John French behind the new portable ultrasound machine which was recently funded in part by a donation of $30,000 raised by the Auxiliary's 2014 Festival of Trees.

Dr. French and several of his colleagues have received intensive training in the use of the machine which, Dr. French says, has already proved extremely useful in providing clear and accurate imaging for patients in our hospital.

Loch Sloy (which is a local holding company and storage facility) has made a very generous donation of $3,000.00 to the PECMH Auxiliary.

In the photo, Jacqui Burley, Manager of Loch Sloy, presents a cheque for $3,000.00 to Pam Strachan, Manager of the Auxiliary's Second Time Around Shop.

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary celebrated 80 years of making a difference in our community at a luncheon  held on September 18th at Isaiah Tubbs Resort.

A large crowd enjoyed lunch and watched the 80th Anniversary video (which can be seen by clicking here). The celebration finished off with a wonderfully amusing and inspirational address by Marion Timmermans.

Auxiliary President Peggy Payne and Vice-President Liz Jones led the celebrations and honoured a number of the Auxiliary’s Past Presidents, including Evelyn Beaumont, Barb Claxton, Fran Donaldson, Evelyn Drew, Betty Evans, Nancy Hicks, Carol Ireland, Sue Law, Elayne Meharg, Joyce Minaker and Wanda Strachan.

On November 27th, Mary-Clare Egberts, CEO and President of QHC, offered her congratulations to members of the PECM Hospital Foundation, the Auxiliary and the hospital staff on the occasion of our Picton hospital having been named top performing hospital in Ontario for overall excellence in acute inpatient care by the National Research Corporation (NRC) and the Ontario Hospital Association(OHA).

Pictured here: Auxiliary Director Carolynn Whiteley presenting a certificate to the staff on the 2nd floor, expressing the Auxiliary's congratulations for the NCR nomination.
